Revival in the
North-East of
England

A brand plucked from the fire

The North-East of England is an area where God has moved powerfully over the years. The gospel first came to the region in Roman times, and the North-East has played a significant role in many important Christian movements and missions.

As this site develops, I hope to be able to tell you about the things which the Lord has done here in the North-East of England, past and present. There will be general church histories for the North-East, together with my research on revivals in this region in the 18th and 19th centuries. I have included plenty of eyewitness accounts from contemporary newspapers of revival in progress.

In recent years it has been frequently stated that the Lord is calling us to redig the ancient wells of blessing. I hope that this site can be used as a resource to show where the wells were within the North-East, and something of the nature of the blessing which flowed from them. It will also provide background information for those engaged in spiritual mapping of areas within this region.

Please check back in the future because this page will probably emerge a section at a time as I get to writing it - look for new hypertext links appearing.

My site is very specific to a particular region. If you are interested in what God has done in other parts of the world over the years, why not take a look at David Smithers' excellent revival site: The Watchword
