ACCOUNTS OF PRIMITIVE METHODIST REVIVAL MEETINGS
Excerpts from the book:
"NORTHERN PRIMITIVE METHODISM"
by
W.M. PATTERSON
E. Dalton, London, 1909
Patterson's book is an excellent account of the spread of Primitive Methodism through the North of England in the nineteenth century. He includes a great deal of detail on the incredible revivals which took place in the different communities. My favourite section is his account of the awakening which took place among the lead miners of Weardale in the 1820s. Unfortunately he also feels the need to namecheck every family which had been involved with the church over the years, and this can make some sections heavy going (although invaluable for those engaged in local history research). As I get the chance I will try to scan and add more portions of this book to my site.
